F.A.Q.

What will our team be doing during a Retrofit Assessment?

Our Retrofit Assessors are trained to undertake a retrofit assessment for homes in accordance with PAS 2035 rules or standards.

The activities completed within the retrofit survey include the production of an RdSAP assessment, a detailed floor plan, a condition report and an occupancy assessment.

Generally speaking, this means our assessors will be looking at the heating type in your home, insulation in both loft and walls, lighting, boilers and much more to get an idea of where your property is at in terms of energy efficiency.

The survey is purely visual. You don't have to prepare or move anything for us, we will work around you and your home.

When we've done our survey, it then goes to our designers and coordinators, who look at potential improvements to your property and use specialist modelling software to figure out what could be done to improve things for you.

Our Retrofit Coordinators formulate a Medium-Term Improvement Plan, ready for the council and their installers, who then take over from us, decide what they are prepared to do, discuss this with you & agree and complete the work with you.

How long does a Retrofit Assessment take?

Each house is different, even houses on the same street that look alike from the outside can actually have a lot of differences, therefore end up with different recommendations.

Our assessors do their best to minimise disruption and work efficiently. Generally speaking, a standard property can be completed in around 1-2 hours, however larger or more complex buildings that might require a bit more investigation can take a little longer.

The survey is purely visual. You don't have to prepare or move anything for us, we will work around you and your home.

We may require to access the loft, but we wont be going in. Our loft surveys are purely head & shoulders surveys to measure insulation.

If it's not possible to identify the type of insulation in your walls from the outside, we may ask permission to drill a small pencil sized hole on the outside of your house to put a small camera inside.

We should be able to give you an estimate of how long it will take during booking your appointment.
