Greener Schools

Greener Schools energy surveys.

We're working with WCBC to undertake fully funded assessments of schools in Wrexham in order to identify the possibilities and feasibility for improvements to their carbon emissions through retrofitting.

This is a brand new project and this page is under construction. Updates will be added regularly.

More information will be added soon, but if you would like to speak to a member of the team, please complete the form and we will get back to you to discuss.

02 Pre-visit Q's.

To make things run even smoother, we have a few pre visit questions that can speed up our survey when we do visit & cause even less of a disruption tot he school day. This is best completed by a caretaker or person that knows the school building & heating types well. Don't worry if not all of the answers. A copy can be found below:

What will our team be doing?

Our inspectors will need access to all rooms in the school to be ale to survey and document things like, heating, windows, insulation type (using a small borescope hole), lighting and anything else that can help paint a picture of the current energy usage.

We understand schools are unique places to work and appreciate the challenges that both the school day, safeguarding children, learning and COVID pose when working in an education setting.

To ensure we pose as minimal a disturbance as possible whilst working on site we would seek to agree a time table for inspections that focused on the external inspections, hallways, plant rooms and kitchen at times when pupils are in lessons and then to undertake classroom inspections during breaks and outside of the school hours i.e. in the time school is open and before pupils arrive and similarly after they leave in the evenings where possible.

Our teams are also able to make inspections by arrangement on weekends or half terms if that option is decided to be best suited to the school.

How long will this take?

The size of a school will naturally affect the time required to assess the building. To meet our deadlines and ensure we have sufficient time on site we would appoint a single assessor or a pair of assessors to inspect one school over a single day and in other settings may send a larger group of assessors for several days. Very small schools may even take a matter of 2-3 hours. We will discuss an estimated time during the booking process, where we can get a clearer idea of school size.
